Recently I started working on my own again. And then came the lack of motivation. Music and personal music players have come a long way. Prices for accessories not so much. I found a few sites that suggested using a tube sock for an armband but I wanted something a little prettier. So I came up with this little d.i.y. armband. Used 1 quilt square (or in other worlds, a fat quarter).
First, I measured my arm. I used a piece of string and added about 2 to 3 inches more. Basically the small width of the quarter. I measured about 7 inches up and cut.

I sewed along the three open edges, wrong sides out, and left a tiny opening to turn the tube. My stiching is in white since that's what we had in the sewing machine. I also trimmed as close as I dared

Using part of the rest of the quarter, I cut out a rectangle about an inch bigger in all directions than my cellphone, since that's my music player as well.

After turning the tube, I centered the pocket square and attached it. I left one of the sides open of course. I also think you should probably put a "hem" all the way around it before you attach it, but I didn't. Again, trim as close as you dare.

I had some sticky Velcro laying around so I attached three strips of the soft fluffy side to the top and one scratchy side to the bottom. Since the stickiness doesn't stay too well, I suggest sewing a straight line right through the center of each strip.

Strap it on and go!
Lemme know what you guys think and how well it stays together!
Ideas to try:
--Adding a flap and button (or more velcro) to keep device more secure
--Using elastic inside it to stay on arm better |
