Soooo, about a month, some friends and i started a craft group with aims of helping the community. We made hats and scarves to hand out with Food Not Bombs, and made some plans for shows and things. Then, some friends who own a store on my street invited us to have a table with them at a arts and crafts event downtown. We had one week, and we pulled it together and made over a hundred bucks from our little table!!!
I am soooo happy and excited. we are putting the money into a local community organization that helps the homeless, the almost homeless, and runs lots of community events! yaaaayyy!!
anyone else have some happies to share!? _________________ trying not to be afraid

That is great geekychic!
My happies is that yesterday I had my last exam of first year, and I will have passed all seven papers with an A or A+ :) (and am now at work nursing a hangover from the post-exam partying) _________________ Friends say it's nothing, but would would they know? Yay! That's awesome, geekychic. And good job, Kelly.!
I'm tooting my own horn because I got 102% on my nutrition exam earlier in the week! And a few weeks ago, 108% on my chem midterm! I'm rocking all of my classes this semester. Probably because I have pretty much no social life and no boyfriend here to distract me with cuddles and sleepovers. Which is pretty sad, when you think about it. But I'm going to focus on my awesome grades instead. :) |

I had to take an aptitude test to get accepted into a dental assisting program. I finished the grammar and reading sections with time to spare, and had 2 questions left at the end of the math section, but I still got the highest score the admin had seen in the 5 years he's worked there.
Yay me!
I also got off my ass and got myself accepted to the dental assisting program and got my financial aid all taen care of, and I'm starting on November 30th, as long as I can find a sitter for Lydia. Abby is taken care of, I just need one for The kindergartener _________________ The definition of normal is just a setting on a washing machine |

glitter, you rock. so much awesome stuff to be proud of on this thread. :)
i'm happy cause today i spent a good bit of time with a friend of a friend who has been having a hard time getting over a breakup that she went through over the summer. i feel really good about being able to support her in seeing her power in the situation and giving her some ideas on how to turn the beat around. _________________ The Sunny Way: Personal Development to Change the World

madgeylou, that's great that you were able to help empower your friend like that. I'm so impressed by jessystar and Gigi's awesome test results - how on earth does one get over 100% anyway?!
Tooting my horn: As of Friday, I am now vest BSW (Hons)- just finished my social work degree! After four years of studying it's the weirdest feeling to be done! |

Congrats to everyone!
Not really my horn, but I'm really proud of how well the restaurant I'm working at is still doing after a month of being open. We still have a wait list at night and it's terribly exciting to read all the rave reviews! _________________ "Does that mean I have a superhero complex? Well, maybe. Today I rode two hours on my bike, capping of my first week of 2010 training. Ten hours this week, so not too bad. I will also be going to bed in a half hour (8:00 my time! yikes!) because I'm tired from those ten hours. Ooh, I'm out of shape! _________________ Well, duh, but that's no reason to abandon ship. These are all awesome!
I finally feel confident in my new job, and I feel like I'm starting to get a modicum of respect from the haters. I sent out rejection letters last week and no one wrote back to complain. I also interviewed 12 interns and am designing jobs around their skills, which feels great. |

I won a $1200 scholarship - there was only one given out for my whole state. I got recognized at an awards banquet, and my husband got to see me give a little "thank you" speech in front of 300 people.
I got a new dress to wear for said event because I didn't have anything quite fancy enough. I've spoken in front of groups plenty of times, but never at such a formal event! It was pretty fun. _________________ My zines are available here:
